I love to run.
I feel like it's a drug and I can't wait to get my next fix.

Sprinting up hills makes my day ;)

I'd like to think I'm tough as nails, but don't we all?

Right now I'm on a marathon kick, I'm always looking for some kind of race. Recently I've gotten into triathlons, that's what I'll be chasing next.

Chrissie Wellington and Kara Goucher are my heroes <3

After a year of injuries in 2011 and finally recovering, I decided to take the leap and become a Personal Trainer. There's nothing more important to me than fitness and health. I would love nothing more than to achieve my goals and help others reach their maximum potential and achieve theirs as well.

My ultamite goal is to do an Ironman.

Worked with clients today!

Wednesday is a hands on day where we get to work with clients from the community. I shadowed an older student and we worked with a woman in her 60s.

I really liked the hands on stuff today. She has arthritis, knee pain, and back pain, so we did a really basic workout. We had her warm up on the treadmill with a light walk followed by arm circles front and back. We put a light resistance band around her ankles and had her walk through an agility ladder a few times, we took the resistance bands off and then had her go through the agility ladder more, and step over these longer cones so she could practice picking her feet up. We had her do pelvic thrusts, mule kicks (light and slow), biceps curls with the RB, overhead press with RB, and also had her practice standing up and sitting down without using her hands to push herself up.

I didn’t expect working with an older client first time around, but I absolutely loved it. I liked building the connection with her, reminding her why she wants to get healthy (to play with the grandchildren) when she wanted to stop and give up, I really liked the ways we were able to push her (a yellow resistance band was too easy, we got her going on green). Pixi was able to show me some really cool things and give me good advice for working with people and building work outs in the future.

After that we had to pair with someone else and train eachother. I paired with this guy who barely speaks english, he’s SO hard to understand, but he’s an ass kicker. We just did simple step ups at first, he had me jumping up on those stands, I’ve never done that before so it was cool learning how, he showed me better techniques in landing lighter. After that it was burpie central followed by pull ups. I can’t do a pull up to save my life so I had him show me things to help build my upper body up so I can do one. If there’s two things I’ve always wanted to do it’s pull ups and a hand stand! I’ll do both.

Either way today was really fun!
